8vo. In a nice contemporary full calf binding with four raised bands and richly gilt spine. Small paper label pasted on to upper compartment indicating the library number from an estate library. Ex-libris (Carl Juel, Danish statesman and owner of Valdemar's Castle) pasted on to pasted down front end-paper. A very nice and clean copy. (4), VI, 354, (6).


First edition of this famous account by Tollot describing his voyage Algiers, Tunis, Tripoli, Alexandria as well as Palestine where he went on pilgrimage to the different holy places. On the way back, he stopped at Cyprus, Rhodes, Smyrna and Constantinople before heading back to Malta, Crete and Carthage. He completed his tour of the Mediterranean in Marseille at the beginning of the summer of 1732.
