A accompanying typewritten letter (signed "Tove Ditlevsen") laid in: "Kære Rasmus Naver - / Jeg er et ubetænksomt væsen og burde forlængst have sendt / Dem "Kvindesind", kan de tilgive mig? Til gengæld er eksemplaret / af 1. oplag. Når jeg pludselig skriver med rødt er det ikke for at / være original, men af den grund at den sorte halvdel af mit farvebånd er slidt op. Kommer De med til min "Kroning"? / Venlig hilsen / Deres hengivne / [underskrevet i hånden] Tove Ditlevsen".

The rare first edition, here with a most interesting presentation-inscription, of Ditlevsen’s poems essentially being a sequel to her debut publication “Pigesind” (A Girls’s Mind), which is the other of Ditlevsen's most famous poems. The present copy was a present from Ditlevsen to Rasmus Naver, publisher of “Pigesind”. In these stories, Ditlevsen explores the inner lives and experiences of women, often drawing on her own life and observations. The book is considered a significant work in her oeuvre, as it reflects her skill in delving into the complexities the thoughts and emotions of women. Ditlevsen is considered one of the most important and unique voices in twentieth-century Danish literature and many of the themes she touches upon ring a universal bell. Her works are particularly valuable as they dramatize the consequences of locking women into marriage, into the roles of wife and mother. In 2021, The New York Times, The New Yorker, and The Guardian elected Tove Ditlevesen's recently translated "The Copenhagen Trilogy” as book of the year and celebrated Ditlevsen as one of the most important authors in 20th century literature.
Ditlevsen's writing has had a lasting impact upon Danish literature, and her works continue to be read and studied for their candid and emotional exploration of the human condition. Her life and writing remain highly important for those interested in Scandinavian literature and the confessional literary tradition.
