BURLAMAQUI, J.J.

Grundsetninger til Naturens Ret. Af det Franske oversat ved A.S. Dellgast.

Kiøbenhavn, Ludolph Henrich Lillie, 1757. 4to. Samtidigt hldrbd. med rygforgyldning og forgyldt titel. Stempel på titelbladet. (8),348,(24) pp. Trykt på skrivepapir. Rent eksemplar.

Første danske udgave af Burlamaquis "Principes du Droit Naturel" (1747), et værk som var en hovedinspiration for Thomas Jefferson i forbindelse med udformningen af den amerikanske forfatning.
The uncommon first Danish edition of Burlamaqui's groundbreaking main work - the only work that he himself published - which, with its vision of constitutionalism, constituted a major influence upon the American Founding Fathers. It is in the present work that the quest for happiness as a natural human right is articulated for the first time, a principle that Thomas Jefferson, directly influenced by the present work, later restated in the Declaration of Independence.
