Lyon, Antonio Constantino, (ca. 1540). 8vo. Contemp. full calf. 6 raised bands, spine gilt with an eagle in each compartment. Blindtooled borders on covers, floral cornerpieces gilt. In middle of covers "D" and "S" and inbetween these letters a crowned gilt eagle. Corners and edges neathly repaired. Title-page yellowing and neatly repiared with japan-paper. 243,(51) pp. Initials in woodcut. A brownspot in lower right corner on the first ca. 20 leaves and a small inkspot on lower corners of the last 15 leaves. Without the last blank. From the library of Thore Virgin, the famous Swedish book collector, having his bookmark on inside frontcover and his entry on front free endpaper: "Thore Virgin/ 20.12.1927".


A chronological world history, ending with the year 1535.The discovery of America by Columbus is listed for the year 1492. Gasser, the astronomer and mathematician, is well know for his editing Copernicus second edition (1566, Basel) of "
De revolutionibus orbium coelestium", and it contained an introduction by Gasser.
