WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY?

HEIDEGGER, MARTIN.

Die Technik und die Kehre.

Phüllingen, Neske, (1962). Orig. whien wrappers w. black and red lettering and ornamentation. Underlinings and marginal notes. 47, (1) pp.

First edition of the two lectures "Die Frage nach der Technik" and "Die Kehre", given in 1949 and 1950. The first was revised, as it is here, and given again in 1962. The two lectures provide us with some of Heidegger's central thoughts on the phenomenon of technology.

The first lecture poses the question of what technology is, and the second suggests the possibility of changing man's attitude towards technology as it is presented in the first lecture.

Heidegger's notions on technology have fundamentally influenced all later philosophical discussions about this phenomenon.
